1. The Zoomies- Most people who have had a dog probably know what the zoomies are. You know those times when your dog suddenly gets really excited and starts running around really fast either back-and-forth or in circles?  They also might get down in the “I’m ready to play” position.  The one where their front half is down on the floor and their butts are up in the air.

        2.  The Show Off My Belly Move – You know when you give your dog a pat on the back, but then that leads to them laying down and rolling over to show off their bellies?  It’s like, what happened? But we’re not surprised by it. We know what they’re waiting for, right ?  They are waiting for a belly rub, of course!

           3. I need to Turn in Circles Before I Lay Down – This is thought, by researchers, to be an instinct that is passed down from their wild ancestors and what they are doing is checking to make sure it’s a safe area in which to lay down.  You never know if an unwanted predator could be hiding there just waiting to catch your dog off guard.

          4. Hiding their toys/bones – does your dog like to hide his toys?  Some dogs have a favorite hiding place right in the house and others like to go outside in the yard to find a safe place.  Some will dig a hole and bury them.  Our dog Lucas loves to bury his bones in our garden.

              5. The excitement they show when it’s time for a walk – the happiness they show when you get their leash out can be worth it even when you don’t really feel like going.  The talking, whining and running around can be hysterical and it makes us laugh every time.

              6. They Talk – Some dogs love talking to their owners about what’s on their minds.  And they have different ways of doing this.  And of course, we, in turn, enjoy talking back to them.  I’m thinking there is absolutely no one who has never had a conversation with their dog.  Right?
